Future Museum

The future Museum of the Virgen de los Llanos aims to become one of the most distinctive museum spaces in the city, province and region, providing a place where most of the heritage that makes devotion to the Virgen de los Llanos — Patroness of Albacete and its Diocese — so characteristic and unique can be displayed.

It is intended to be an active and dynamic centre, capable of adapting to the changing requirements of religious services held in honour of the Patroness and other extraordinary events taking place in the city.

The future museum will enjoy a privileged location adjoining Albacete Cathedral, specifically in Plaza Virgen de los Llanos. Across several spacious rooms distributed over two floors, visitors will be offered an emotional journey through the history of the Virgen de los Llanos, the Real Asociación and even the City of Albacete itself.

The exhibition will explore her connection with the Albacete Fair, the people of the city and all the places to which devotion to the Virgen de los Llanos has spread.

A visit to the Museum of the Virgen de los Llanos aims to give visitors an opportunity to discover and appreciate the historical identity of a centuries-old institution such as the Real Asociación while enjoying and admiring the heritage, traditions and fascinating stories surrounding the Virgen de los Llanos.

The Museum’s main purpose is therefore to bring together and present, in a new way, important historical testimonies and documents, both previously unpublished and well known.

Through annual exhibitions, these materials will be displayed alongside liturgical objects and elements traditionally associated with the image of the Virgen de los Llanos, allowing visitors to discover and appreciate everything connected with the Virgen de los Llanos and the City of Albacete.
